Conditions for admission to the Veterinary Medicine Master's programme taught in English for the 2026/2027 academic year

Conditions for admission to the Master's degree study programme Veterinary Medicine taught in English for the 2026/2027 academic year        

In accordance with the provisions of § 49 of Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education Institutions and on Amendments and Supplements to Some Other Acts, as amended (the Higher Education Act), and the relevant provisions of the Statute of the University of Veterinary Sciences Brno, and in accordance with a ruling by the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of VETUNI Brno on 24th September 2025, the Faculty hereby publishes the conditions for admission to studies in the Master's degree study programme in Veterinary Medicine for the 2026/2027 academic year:

1) Admission to the Master's degree study programme in Veterinary Medicine is conditional upon the completion of a full secondary education pursuant to § 48 article 1 of the Higher Education Act. In the event that the secondary education was obtained from a foreign secondary school, its equivalence must be documented in accordance with the provisions of § 48 article 4 of the Higher Education Act.

2) In accordance with § 49 article 1 of the Higher Education Act, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of VETUNI Brno specifies the following additional conditions for admission:

or on the university website. Other forms of application will not be accepted.

– The application must be submitted electronically by 31st March 2026 or, in the event that a second round of admissions is held, by 14th July 2026.

– As part of the application, the applicant is obliged to deliver the following documentation either in person or though a postal delivery service to the address of the Faculty’s Study Office (Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, VETUNI, Palackého tř. 1946/1, 612 42 Brno, Czech Republic): school leaving certificate (as detailed in article 1 of this document), 2 passport-size photographs, a completed Certificate of Medical Fitness to Study (see appendix 1 and 2 to this document). All documentation must be either original or a certified copy of the original.

– All the required documentation must be delivered to the Faculty’s Study Office in the prescribed form by 31st March 2026 at the latest or, in the event that a second round of admissions is held, by 14th July 2026. If the applicant has not been issued with a school leaving certificate by the date of the entrance exam, they are obliged to provide the Faculty's Study Office with an original confirmation from their school that they have successfully completed their secondary school studies, with a certified copy of the school leaving certificate to be delivered to the Faculty’s Study Office at a later date to be agreed upon with the Study Office.

– The Faculty is entitled to request that the applicant supply any additional documentation required to support the information given in their application.

– Failure to submit all the required documentation on time and in accordance with the stated terms may result in the admissions procedure being terminated.

– An applicant who is already studying at the Faculty in this specific programme cannot be admitted to the study programme.

– An applicant who has not duly paid their tuition fees from previous years of study at VETUNI Brno cannot be admitted to the study programme.        

b) The application fee has been set at 0 CZK.

c) As part of the application, the applicant is obliged to sit the entrance examination, which is a written test in biology and chemistry based on the secondary school curriculum. The examination takes the form of a multiple-choice test with only one correct answer for each question. The maximum time allowed to complete the whole test is 120 minutes.

Scoring system:

Biology: 37 questions, each correct answer = 1 point, maximum number of points = 37

Chemistry: 37 questions, each correct answer = 1 point, maximum number of points = 37

Maximum number of points for the whole test = 74

In order to pass the entrance examination, the applicant must obtain at least 18 points in the biology test and 18 points in the chemistry test.

On the basis of a written request and supporting medical evidence, students with specific needs may be given an extension of the time allowed to complete the entrance exam.

The admissions procedure will be carried out in English. Based on the total number of points awarded to each applicant, candidates will be ranked for a decision by the Dean of the Faculty on their admittance or non-admittance to the study programme. Students will be admitted in this order.

The entrance examination will be held during the period from 1st April to 12th May 2026 or, in the event that the capacity of the study programme has not been filled by this date and a second round of admissions is to take place, during the period 15th July – 2nd August 2026.

For the 2026/2027 academic year, the maximum number of students admitted to the Master's degree study programme in Veterinary Medicine will be 80 candidates.
