Block teaching in the 6th year of study lasts 40 weeks in total.
Individual blocks are either 10 weeks or 5 weeks in length.
Compulsory subjects: Infectious Diseases of Animals and Legislation / Food Hygiene / Diseases of Dogs and Cats / Diseases of Ruminants and Swine
(SREx = compulsory partial state rigorous exam)
Elective subjects: Equine Diseases / Diseases of Reptiles, Birds and Small Mammals / Diseases of Poultry and Farmed Rabbits / Thesis
(ESREx = elective partial state rigorous exam)
Each student has to take four compulsory blocks, which end with a partial state exam, and one or two elective blocks, also ending with a partial state exam. In total, each student completes 5 to 6 blocks depending on their choice.
It is possible to work on a thesis beyond the scope of the elective clinical subjects. If a student chooses a clinical subject as one of their elective blocks (Equine Diseases;Diseases of Reptiles, Birds and Small Mammals;Diseases of Poultry and Farmed Rabbits), they can also prepare a thesis in addition to this choice. If the student chooses Thesis as an elective block, it is understood as sufficient fulfilment of the requirement for an elective subject. It is not possible to choose two clinical elective subjects.
