Conditions for admission to the Master's degree study programme Veterinary Medicine taught in English for the academic year 2025/2026
In accordance with the provisions of § 49 of Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education Institutions and on Amendments and Supplements to Some Other Acts, as amended (the Higher Education Act), and the relevant provisions of the Statute of the University of Veterinary Sciences Brno, and in accordance with a ruling by the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at UVS Brno on 6th November 2024, the Faculty hereby publishes the conditions for admission to studies in the Master's degree study programme Veterinary Medicine for the academic year 2025/2026:
1) Admission to the Master's degree study programme in Veterinary Medicine is conditional upon the completion of a full secondary education pursuant to § 48 article 1 of the Higher Education Act. Secondary education obtained from a foreign secondary school must be documented by a certificate of equivalence or a statement of validity issued by the education department of the regional authority pursuant to § 48 article 4 of the Higher Education Act.
a) The applicant shall submit an electronic application at this link:
or on the university website. Other forms of application will not be accepted.
- The application must be submitted electronically by 31st March 2025 or, in the event that the capacity of the study programme has not been filled by the first date and a second round of admissions is opened, by 14th July 2025.
- The applicant is obliged to deliver the following documentation either in person or though a postal service provider to the address of the Faculty’s Study Office: FVM UVS Brno, Palackého tř. 1946/1, 612 42 Brno, Czech Republic:school leaving certificate (as detailed in article 1 of this document), 2 passport-size photos, a completed Medical Certificate (appendix no. 1 of this document). All documentation must be either original or a notarized copy of the original.
- All the required documentation must be delivered to the Faculty’s Study Office by 31st March 2025 or, in the event that the capacity of the study programme has not been filled by the first date and a second round of admissions is opened, by 14th July 2025. If the applicant has not been issued with a school leaving certificate by the date of the entrance exam, they are obliged to provide the Faculty's Study Office with a confirmation from their school that they have successfully completed their secondary school studies, with the school leaving certificate to be delivered to the Faculty’s Study Office at a later date.
- The Faculty is entitled to request that the applicant supply any additional documentation required to support the information given in their application.
- Failure to submit all the required documentation on time and in accordance with the stated terms may result in the admissions procedure being terminated.
- An applicant who is already studying at the Faculty in this specific programme cannot be admitted to the study programme.
- An applicant who has not duly paid their tuition fees from previous years of study at UVS Brno cannot be admitted to the study programme.
b) The admission fee has been set at 0 CZK.
c) The applicant is obliged to pass the entrance examination, which is a written test in biology and chemistry based on the secondary school curriculum. The examination is in the form of a multiple-choice test with only one correct answer for each question. The maximum time allowed to complete the whole test is 120 minutes.
Scoring:
Biology: 37 questions - each correct answer = 1 point; maximum number of points = 37
Chemistry: 37 questions - each correct answer = 1 point; maximum number of points = 37
Maximum number of points for the whole test = 74
In order to pass the entrance examination, a candidate must obtain at least 18 points in the biology test and 18 points in the chemistry test.
On the basis of a written request and supporting medical evidence, students with specific needs may be given an extension of the time allowed to complete the entrance exam.
The admissions procedure will be carried out in English. Based on the total number of points awarded to each applicant, candidates will be ranked for a decision by the Dean of the Faculty on their acceptance or rejection. Students will be admitted in this order. Providing the Study Office with a school leaving certificate is a condition for admission.
The entrance examination will be held during the period 1st April to 12th May 2025 or, in the event that the capacity of the study programme has not been filled by the first date and a second round of admissions is opened, during the period 15th July – 2nd August 2025.
For the academic year 2025/2026, the maximum number of students admitted to the Master's degree study programme in Veterinary Medicine will be 80 candidates.
